Oh, Oh, Oh, me first.

Wow! This is a hot area. It must have been built just for me, the Veteran who works in the Department of Veterans Affairs. Gee, this is like being given a blank piece of paper that the whole world is gonna see...YIPPEE!!! Why I love the V.A. in eighty words or less, hmmm, I have heard it provides the worlds finest care, anywhere. I must be at the wrong facility. Don't get me wrong, it pays the bills, but I have worked here for 7.5 ish years and still have not registered as a patient here. I guess I'll get around to it someday but who knows. Anyone else out there an employee with the V.A. (other then the 2 dozen here in Detroit that spend their lives in the arcade)??

Whew, I feel great and thanks for having me!!!

Boner,

Thanks for doing the first post. Myself being a disabled vet from the Operation Enduring Freedom error I am always seeking help and informatoin on my benfits and what the process is of this and what the process of that is. Thanks for serving the Veterans Community as your dedication is truly appreciated. Since you work for the VA, maybe you can post updates to the Policy's and Benfits that you get.

Hey thanks! I usually come off as quite a smart a$$, but thats just my nature. Just a little bit about myself in case I didn't say it in my intro. I joined the ARMY in July of 94 (actually signed up Sep 93 D.E.P.) and left for basic straight out of High School. Spent my O.S.U.T. at Ft McClellen Al (95B), got shipped straight to Yongsan Korea, spent my year there, finished up my active duty time at Ft Knox KY and E.T.S.'d into the National Guard in 99. Spent the next whatever number of years there and washed my hands (ish) of the Military in Jan 06 as an E-6. I started working as a V.A. Cop in April 01 and have been here (officially, save a couple of "deployments") ever since. I would be more than happy to help answer any questions one might have in regards to the V.A. and if there are questions about the ARMY that are asked and I don't remember/ know, I can forward them to my wife who is an HONEST ARMY recruiter, (Yes, I understand those two words "honest" and "Recruiter" don't belong together, but she'd rather have someone walk away then lie to them).

GI Bill/College Fund Re-instated

Hey all:

I let the money and time slip by me, next thing I knew it was 10 years since I got out (97) and no benefits for education. Is there any chatter about re-instating this and doing away with the time limit? I can't believe how dumb I was to let this slip away, especially after investing that initial 1200 bucks. Let me know...
