I'm heading to my store tomorrow, it is kind of a long story, but, I'm buying a 9mm XD..
I have not yet decided whether or not I'm going to go for the 3" sub-compact 9mm or the 4" standard size with porting
either way i'm going to save a lot of money for a while
I bet it is difficult to go to the range when you're actually a police officer because you're probably exhausted after you're off duty

I should find time, just because you are tired is NO excuse in not training properly. I view going to the range as part of my workout routine. I workout daily, I should go to the range weekly or Bi-monthly (at least).

DT that is unacceptable!!!! Have you tried dry fire exercises? You "UNLOAD" your weapon. ( I cannot stress this enough).
Then while wathing TV or doing nothing you dryfire. What you are watching for is movement of the frontsight. If the front sight moves then you are either holding it wrong, jerking the trigger, or too much finger on the trigger.
Also use that correction target I posted on the other thread. It will help you find what you are doing wrong.
Judging from your target you are doing a lot of wrong things. Dry firing should correct that. I will be posting a thread in the near future on proper grip of the handgun. (WITH PICS!)

Absolutely correct. Dry firing is more important than live-firing.
You have to break and re-break that natural muscular instinct to jerk the weapon back into position.
Front Sight Newsletters told me this, but I was already doing it
(Because I have such a hard-on for my gun, I sit around pulling the trigger all the time when I'm watching TV)
And yeah, DT, i've been to the firing range 10 times in the last 35 days, I also view it as a work-out routine

This is a great post, also, I think most of the time people focus on mastering the sights at the expense of learning correct (good) trigger pull.
