Holsters
Sorry for posting so many threads, but this one is for me personally I am trying to get hired on in my home county with the sheriffs office. I need to know what types of holsters are good for the springfield XD. I am looking for a full size level II holster, probably mid-ride or hi- ride on the belt. if anyone has some links or thoughts on what might be good please let me know.

Yep, I have a blackhawk as well, I stand by them also. You can't go wrong with them!

BlackHawk is the best, Uncle Mike's is the worst
The blackhawk serpa is by far the best duty holster on the market. It is everything you could possibly want in a duty holster. The retention system is second to none. The weapon automatically is locked in place the instant the weapon is placed in the holster. The Level III, which I have for my Glock, has a spring loaded hood that rotates over the back of the gun to provide the extra retention. The best thing about this holster is that retention deactivation switches are positioned so that you release them while using your natural shooting grip. This holster is by far the fastest drawing holster on the market.
Also it's fairly moderately priced, and it looks very professional.
Uncle Mike's level II thumb break holster is the only holster I would not even give to my worst enemy. The internal retention is a pressure retention that even at its loosest state is so tight that if you don't place your thumb on the back of the weapon's slide, the motion of reholstering will rack the slide back. Then when you want to take the weapon out again, you have to pull hard in a very specific way, or the weapon will not move. The weapon is difficult to draw in a low stress situation. In a high stress situation you need your pistol to slide out without any awkward motions. I'm surprised that this holster is still on the market. I'm even more surprised that every once and a while I meet another officer that carries one.
The speed of your draw can mean the difference between you and the other guy. An Uncle Mikes's could cost you your life. A black hawk will change it.

Excellent point on the Uncle Mike's. The academy I am going through right now gave us the choice to use their "Holsters" or we could bring our own as long as it fit the guns they use (Glock 20's). I started out using the academys' gun, by the end of the first day of Defensive Tactics, we were calling them "Holders", becaue they held your gun on your hip, not holstered them.
After that first day, we (about 10 recruits) all went right to the local gun shop, ordered the level III serpa holster for next day delivery. Needless to day, the next day during DT, no one had their weapon taken away, and the rest of the recruits went out and purchused the same holster as everyone else.
During those DT sessions, I witnessed someone get picked up by the holster (no support from the hands or anything) THREE times and dropped back down, and not only the was holster still intact, but the weapon was in the same position that it was when they picked him up the first time. GREAT DUTY HOLSTER!
