old double-barrel
I came across an old side-by-side double barrel shotgun in a local pawn shop. It's the kind with the two triggers, one in front of the other. It's made by Savage Arms, it's called a Stevens and had what I guess is a model # which was 311D. My father-in-law would love to have one of the old side-by-sides, but most of the ones I find are rather pricey, I mean in the four figure category or close to it. The gun is in decent shape, but a re-bluing wouldn't hurt. Wood is good, just a little scratched up, but nothing I probably couldn't get taken care of. The barrels need a little cleaning on the inside, but otherwise, the gun seems to be in pretty good shape. The safety effect works, the triggers are crisp, and the break action at the breach is just fine. Is this a pretty good reliable gun? Or are there much better versions?
