It started at 10p and was riding till 6a! I rode with two different officers for the shift, because it was their "friday" and had to finish paperwork, so while I rode with one the other finished their PW. The first officer I rode with was cool, we did 4 traffic contacts and on the last one we got a suspended driver. When the officer pulled her over she stated that "this is racist Sh!t" the officer asked why she continued by saying "you pulled me over because I was black" the officer replied "no I pulled you over because your registration is suspended, plus your windows are tinted I couldn't see who was driving." As we were about to pull her out of the car we got a call of a fight in progress. We told her to call and have someone pick her up, and to be expecting a cite in the mail. We then when to the fight in progress (lights and sirens) when we got there....... NOTHING!

I then switched over to the other officer at about 2a, we did several traffic contacts (they must like those). The last one we stopped for 70 in a 55. The officer made contact and came back to the squad and stated "we will be doing Field Sobriety." Not 2 seconds after he said that, they gave a call for a domestic across town, there were only 2 officers on that night. We called and said that we were on an OWI and couldn't leave and the other officer went by himself. All of a sudden I hear 5 units come over the radio saying that they were "rolling code" to the domestic to back up the officer (which is awesome because we hardly ever get ANY backup let alone 5 units). We finished booking our OWI (1.5-2hrs later) and we then went over to the domestic @ 6am (when the shift was supposed to be over).

When we got there the OIC (officer in charge) told us to take the BG up to county and book him for 2 counts Domestic Disorderly Conduct. By the time we got back it was 8am. The officer looked at me and said "you can go home I have to do the report for the OWI and DDC, I am on BIG BOY TIME NOW" I asked him what he meant by that he said "I am getting overtime to write reports because its my friday, you should ride with me more often, this stuff always happens when you ride!!!!"

All in all it was a good night, and the fact that I got to be the officers "backup" on the OWI was very good experience. He said "If that guy comes at me, you better get your a$$ in there and fight with me!!" I think he let me do that because I am going though the academy and have been in explorers for 6 years!!!! But it was a good night!
