I was inspired to share this after reading SaraJ's post:
A Keeper Thank you, Sara, that was a very nice post!!
One year ago.......
It was one year ago today,
we got the dreaded call,
The hospital said come straight away,
he hasn't got long at all.
He held on just for us,
to arrive to say good-bye,
then he faded slowly.
We knew in our hearts,
it was better for him to die.
He would no longer have any joy in life,
nothing to light his day.
He was an independent soul,
and he would remain that way.
I will miss my Dad,
my siblings feel the same,
For one year ago,
the Lord called him home,
As He will call us all, one day.
I wrote this poem one year after his passing on January 14th, 2008. My Dad got cancer of the throat, he went into surgery and rejected the feeding tube, we got that dreaded call and rushed to the hospital. I was sitting beside his bed holding his hand when he died. It was better that he passed away, he was very independent and would not have been happy in a nursing home and it ended the pain he was in. I am glad for his sake God called him that day, I mourn and hurt for myself and because I miss him so very much.
