Spring Camping
We just recently went on an Interior camping trip in Algonquin Park you book a lake, then find a marked site on the shore line.
So we arrived and booked on a large lake called Ralph Bice lake, which we found out was still 3/4 covered in ice, which was broken up in large floating slabs. One site was accessible, but if the wind changed direction, we would have gotten trapped on the site by the ice slabs. Not a good thing!! So we went back to the smaller lake, called Hambone Lake.
These are taken on the first day.
Here is our campsite:
Hambone lake:
The second day, we had periods of rain, we had to go change the reservation to the Hambone. We spent a few hours fishing anyway, caught nothing and we collected and cut firewood.
The next day we had high winds, so we decided to go for a hike. Got really close to a male grouse courting a hen.
These little flowers were growing everywhere on the forest floor:
The following day we woke to this:

We decided to head home that day. It was an interesting trip.

Canada is north so it gets really cold.
Spring weather is unpredictable.
Not to mention Canada is cold.
well I got only one thing to say about that.

I will admit it is extreme in some people's eyes, but to us it is part of endurance and facing the elements to be someplace we LOVE to be. We like to out in the wild, where we don't see many people and the people we do meet are GOOD people. The kind we don't meet everyday, the kind that help each other ANY way WE can and expect nothing in return. You don't get that often anymore, it is kind of nice to find a place where those people are, if you know what I mean..................IMHO............. Maybe this will help you all to understand why we go back and face the, at times, brutal conditions we face, at least I hope so. All us "CRAZY" people have one thing in common, a love of this wilderness park and a respect for each other and nature and as we ALL should have, a willingness to help out our fellow man, unselfishly.
