Son pulled over last night
Apparently, our son was coming back from the mall when he was pulled over for his tail lights (both) being out. The Officer (this happened in our town) asked him to park it in the parking lot of an auto parts store. From what he told us our son was polite and did as the Officer requested he also told him to get it fixed. Just about two weeks ago our son had asked us what he was to do if he was ever pulled over. LOL You would think he would KNOW since his Dad has been in LE for SEVERAL YEARS and I have worked the area (mostly in the juvie side). Well, we told him what to do (yet AGAIN). So now I have hope that what we say as parents DOES sink in because he was polite and didn't put up a fight. Now if he'd listen to us and GET a job!

That advice is universal. I was with a friend when she was pulled over for making and illegal U-turn--didn't see the silly sign in time! I told her to be polite, do EXACTLY what the officer told her to do and admit the fault was hers. She did all these things and got off with a warning. Just amazing what a little respect for the members of law enforcement will get you!

If someone wants to talk back to me, fine, I will find every little thing to write them up for on that stop. If they are polite, I will do my best to help them out, if the speed is too much that I can't just let them off with a warning, I might knock the speed down to the next level down. "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours."
