Police K9-s: Don't swear at them!!

A 28-year-old Florida man was arrested Sunday and charged with cruelty to animals after he allegedly yelled an obscenity at a police dog in a patrol vehicle, TCPalm reports.

Moses Rogers Jr. was also charged with disorderly conduct after police say he shouted the obscene statement into the window of the patrol car in which the dog was sitting, “causing the dog’s behavior to become overloaded, tormenting the dog,” an arrest affidavit states.

Rogers reportedly became irate when an office approached him to ask for identification, TCPalm reports.

Yeah i'll have to agree probably just the DC charge will stand, and more than likely will just be a fine. But that's just a guess

I guess people don't realize that police dogs are officers of the law. I don't remember the circumstances but someone in my area got in trouble for doing something to a police dog.

I think a person has to be pretty low to take out their hostility on an animal. And I also think it was a good thing that the dog was in the patrol car. If he had been on the street this guy might have had to pass by the hospital emergency room on his way home to have a few stitches taken.

K-9 IS an officer. They should be treated the same as if the guy did it to another officer.

Yeah Law, I agree, however, if someone yells obsenities at a police officer, they can't be charged with DC unless it disturbed SOMEONE ELSE! Police are not members of the public, therefore, can not be disturbed (even though they are). I think that this is a bad decision, but guess what, not my decision!

What the man did is harsh, and there's absolutely no sense swearing obscenities to the dog.

I have a HUGE soft spot for animals. I heard there is a judge down in FL. who gives
LOOOOOOONG sentences for people who abuse animals.
In our small town, (1.3 miles) ,the monthly newsletter reported that the kitten survived being
doused in lighter fluid and set afire. This makes my blood boil....also in a neighboring town
there are certian people who aquire dogs and just permanetly tie them outside without
adequate food, water or shelter. I reported the idiots. By the time animal rescue
gets them they have become mistrusting and vicious, and can't be rehomed. Better a
painless chemical death than to be chained and starved to death.
The offenders were banned from having any more pets.
I'll personally cruise thru this winter and check their yards.
