Wow Lol
Incident reportedly happened Friday night
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (WJRT) -- (11/10/08) -- A Jersey City, New Jersey councilman has been charged with simple assault after he reportedly relieved himself on a crowd of people from the balcony of a Washington DC night club.
Reaction across the community is varied after the arrest of Jersey City Councilman Stephen Lipski. He's charged with simple assault. The Daily News reports he
allegedly urinated from a balcony onto a crowd at a Washington DC nightclub Friday night.
"Assuming that it is true I would tell you that I would think that he no longer should not be on the council, but we're still at a point where we don't know whether that's the case," said Jersey City Councilman Steven Fulop.
Lipski did not return our calls, and we were told by the doorman at his apartment building that he wasn't home.
Councilman Lipski is also the head of Create Charter School.
"He tells our seniors and juniors to be a role model, and from what he did is not a good role model to us," freshman Kenneth Sarratt said.
Question: If the accusations are true, would you be able to take anything that he says serious again?
Surratt: No I wouldn't.
Shelley Skinner is on the board of the New Jersey Charter School Association. "I think if it is true, I think he does need to resign."
"Perhaps he should be reprimanded," Shulamit Gershenson said.
Gershenson has never met Lipski. She says he's obviously in an embarrassing situation, but not one that should cost him his job or seat on the council. "He shouldn't be asked to resign because one thing has nothing to do with the other."
But the overwhelming majority of people we spoke to say if the accusations are true, it should cost Lipski both jobs.
That student at Lipski's school we interviewed says he's a strict disciplinarian.
