It's the 4th of July Weekend!
What is everyone doing for the 4th? Any big plans?
I'm going out on lake michigan with my brother and some friends.
I've been working out, shooting, playing hockey, and doing so much school work lately.. it is time to unwind and celebrate the stars and stripes!
(If you're canadian, god bless you, and, you can always share what you are going to do in celebration of Canada Day)
 Go!

For Canada day we went canoing and the kids went fishing and swimming. This was the first time our puppy Dodger was in the canoe, he jumped out once per ride and we had to "rescue" our puppy, LOL!! Then in the evening, we lit off some fireworks in the backyard. It was a good day!!

Hey I'm back, as it turns out, it was a private lake, and not lake michigan. It was absolutely awesome. I did speedboat-tubing, watched a lot of people water ski, etc etc.
Great workout on the water, I must say.
I was about 10 miles from Michigan City, north of it I believe.
There are all these huge cottages, which were pretty sweet.
The people I was with were a lot of fun to party with, they had a pontoon boat and a speedboat, and yeah, it was a total blast. Best July 4th I've ever had, for sure

Glad you had fun, Tim!!!!
Sounds like a place I would NEVER goto, my family and I prefer to canoe and enjoy nature. We never go anywhere motor boats are allowed, the drivers are rude and DANGEROUS for canoeists!! I would LOVE to take a slingshot and lots of good sized marbles, to deter the idiot operators of boats from attempting to swamp us. We had our kids in the canoe as well, they were much younger then and the huge power boats were coming with-in ten feet of us, we actually took on water over the bow of our canoe.
Rant over.........

We go fishing at a place called State Lake. It's a great place to fish on the shore or in a boat. But then you have the "idiots" that like to speed by when you're trying to fish making it impossible after that. Then we have people from Johnson County who come up on weekends and just leave their trash there (empty beer bottles, old food, stuff like that) so we usually end up cleaning up BEFORE we even start to fish.
I think we had a great 4th. We did some shopping and then watched the fireworks on tv. It's so much safer and ya don't have to wait in line for 2 HOURS just for a soda!!!! And we don't have to worry about tons of people leaving when the show is over!

In Your Opinion..........You were not in a canoe.........nothing will change my mind about big power boats, 99.9% are operated by complete MORONS that deserve a big fat marble in the head.......... . The other 0.01% obeyed the law that says you must yield to non-powered boats and actually SLOWED DOWN!! ........I guess sharing the lake and some respect is WAAAAY too much to ask for. I have been in a non-powered boat (row boat) that was hit by a power boat, the 13 y/o kid was drag racing with his friends, looking backward, in his dad's "borrowed" boat (a 13 ft fiberglass boat with about 30(?) HP motor) going full throttle and hit us smack in the middle of our boat, the only thing that (I think) saved us from tipping was the anchor rope and we yelled making him veer off slightly. I a | |
