Not Dead . . . Yet
Sorry to be away for so long. I had some things I had to catch up on and, sort of, lost track of time there.
All the exciting things that have happened have happened to other people, thank goodness.
An ex-student was driving down a rural two-lane road with her 8-year-old daughter when she saw 2 SUVs coming towards her. They were all over the road, swearving from side to side. Behind them was half the municipal police, state agencies and federal too. The bad guys were leaning out the windows firing assault rifles and the cops were leaning out the windows returning the fire. My ex-student yelled for her daughter to get down on the floor of the car, she pulled as far off the road as she could and prayed. Everybody swept past, bullets flying but nothing happened to her. She continued on her errands.
A man in whose company I taught English in 1992 had his son, Nico, kidnapped. He was able to raise the 3 million dollar ransom and everything's OK now.
Three of my doctor-students have been called several times on their cell phones by guys who have identified themselves as "Zetas" and demanded money. That's not the way the Zetas play and everybody knows that! My students just told the guys to go to the place that's verrrrry hot.
Apart from that, the weather is beautiful, the rains have come. The kids are out of school and some of my students are taking vacations. That means that I can take a little time off myself. And I plan to!
Maybe even have time to post!! Yipppeee!
