What do you guys think about what the officer did?

I know that we were not there and can not hear everything that was being said between the driver/passangers of the vehicle and the officer, but I believe that the officer was justified in what he did because the driver was being very uncooperative. I do not know what the policy is in Austin, but here that situation would have been completely backed by our Cheif, lieutanent, and Sergeants. Our command staff doesn't hang officers out to dry.

I think the officer was probably a little too fast. He should have given a considerable amount of time for the person to comply with the Driver License and Insurance command. The driver said whoa whoa let me get it. IMO the officer was unprofessional. Also the officer's attitude was way over the line from the beginning. I treat EVERYONE with respect until they give me a reason otherwise.

Understandable I do believe that the officer was a little quick. I also treat everyone with respect unless they give me a reason, I guess it was on thanksgiving, but still doesn't make it right.

I agree. It was like the officer was having a bad day and this guy gave him just the opportunity to take it out on someone. I saw a traffic officer here with the same problem. First he told the driver of a truck to move the truck but before the driver had an opportunity to even get into the vehicle, the officer was pulling out his citation book. Not the kind of behavior one should expect from an officer.
