Operation Sudden Fall (Short Film on the recent SDSU Drug Bust)

A new short film about the recent DEA drug bust at San Diego State University that resulted in almost 100 arrests, including students majoring in criminal justice and Homeland Security. The ongoing sting operation that lead to the arrests was a direct response to the death of SDSU student Shirley 'Jenny' Poliakoff from an overdose last year.

I'm going to post the same comment here that I did on YouTube.

that is all there is to it.

Do you think that our current system and set of laws is working towards that end? As it says in this video, there are more drugs in the country and they're cheaper and easier to get than 30 years ago.

Did you bother to read what I typed? Perhaps you just posted what was on your mind?

or worse yet, did you just spew out what someone else told you?

I said down with drugs. That just simply means I do not approve of their use. I am speaking only, of course, of drugs which are illegal in this country.

I am NOT implying that you do, however... If you feel that marijuana needs to be legalized, and you came here just to rub this notion in the faces of people who both abide by and enforce the law..

then don't expect to be met with much besides disapproval and hostility.

Oh, and, one last note. Just because the people on this forum (generally speaking) abide by, or in some cases, enforce the law, does not mean that we necessarily like every law set forth by our government.

There is a big difference between agreeing with the law and following the law.

To each his own.

Of course, I completely agree. However, laws are created by people and can be changed by people. You said "down with drugs" and that people shouldn't be using them. What I asked you was if you think that our current way of doing things is promoting that end. Our current policies that have been in place since Nixon have created much more widespread drug use. In Amsterdam, where drugs have been decriminalized, both the usage rate and crime statistics in general went down considerably. What are your views on alcohol, tobacco, and prescription drugs?

I view alcohol and tobacco as vices which, in moderation, are just fine. Moderation really is the key. On rare occasion, I have a cigarette or cigar socially. Once in a while I have a beer with my friends or whatnot.

As for prescription drugs, I would currently be deceased if it were not for their existence, and I think most could say the same. As far as taxation, some states do tax prescription drugs. I stated my opinion on that in another thread on this forum. It gets the job done, I guess.

I am aware (I was just discussing this in another thread today) that the government is partially funded by the taxation on alcohol and tobacco.

The biggest reason I do not approve of illegal drug usage is not because of their effects or because they are not taxed. My biggest problem are the scum who deal them -- and more importantly that they are armed to the teeth and willing to kill anyone who gets in their way. Your video stated this as well. I realize not every dealer of drugs is like this, I'm sure some of the hippie-type weed dealers are nice people to speak with. However, that does not change the fact that they are, once again, breaking the law.

That is my biggest problem, violent drug dealers. You know what? If marijuana was legalized and taxed at a ridiculous rate, it would probably fix the huge budget deficit in one hell of a hurry. I have no real problem with marijuana, in all honesty. I just don't really approve of breaking the law to use it, hence I lump it in with the rest.

Again, let me emphasize, if the laws of the country stated that it was legal for Licensed dealers to sell Marijuana to individuals who go through some sort of approval process, and it was taxed heavily, it would probably do more good for the society than bad.

However, those are NOT the laws, and until the laws are changed, I do not stand by anyone who chooses to break them.

As far as heroine, cocaine, acid, ecstasy, so on... lock and load. I cannot and will not tolerate those being in society.

Legalize drugs? Excuse me, but how naive! Do you have any idea what quantity of drugs goes north across the border? No on can say exactly cause the narcos don't bother with import/export laws but somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 15 tons a month of cocaine. And coming back to the cartels here? Something up to $265 billion a month. Do you have any idea how many police and politicians can be bought for that much money? Drugs will never be legalized.

No one seems to be too concerned about the "violent drug dealers". It's as though LEO have just stuck their heads in the sand and said, "Can't see it, doesn't exist!" "Violent drug dealers are just in Mexico, nothing to worry about!" Oh yeah??? Not so. They're in the States, they're killing Americans and they're kidnapping Americans off the streets.

I have to disagree with you there saraJ, some of these guys can afford the best lawyers in the country so when the police do tag them, they get off because our court system in this country is just......well thats a whole nother different story. I know that it may seem that LE is sticking its head in the sand but, look at the DEA, they are paid to go after nothing but drug dealers. So again, I will have to respectfully disagree.

LE is in a tough position, with budget cuts all across the nation, a lot of departments don't have the resources to go after some of these guys, because to make a case that will stick in court could take months and many officers that some departments just don't have.

I profusely apologize for what I wrote yesterday, DoubleTap. I was NOT in a very good mood. I had just read this—along with other things—“Police who take on the cartels feel isolated and vulnerable when they become targets, as did 22 commanders in Ciudad Juarez when drug traffickers named them on a handwritten death list left at a monument to fallen police this year. It was addressed to ‘those who still don’t believe’ in the power of the cartels. Of the 22, seven have been killed and three wounded in assassination attempts. Of the others, all but one have quit.” This is not unusual. Many small and medium sized towns no longer HAVE policed departments. Everyone has quite!

I DO know that through budget cuts, lack of personnel and the long hours it takes to put together cases, the dealers don’t always go to jail. Add to that, the judges and DAs that want even bigger fish and will let the “little” ones off in order to get their big fish. And with all the money the narcos have, of course they can afford the best lawyers. And they’ll buy the judge if they can! It wasn’t these dealers I was referring to. The “violent drug dealers” I was referring to were the Zetas (pronounced: Setas). These make even the most violent drug dealers look like "little furry kitty cats". They are hard, smart, resourceful and afraid of nothing. When I saw the movie Hitman, I though, “Ah, he’s a Zeta!”

“Cartel hitmen are often arrested with the likes of grenades, powerful machine guns and rocket launchers capable of bringing down helicopters.”

“The cartels have become more brazen, even attacking with machine guns and hand grenades in full daylight in public venues. And they have begun attacking Americans, as well as Mexicans.”

The ability of these Mexican drug cartels to operate with complete disregard for the law on both sides of the border – trafficking in drugs, weapons, humans, terrorists, prostitution, and money laundering is now threatening to destabilize the American economy and our way of life, especially in poor areas and in our projects and barrios.”

This is what I’m talking about! If your city has a drug problem, chances are the Zetas are there already. But you won’t know it until THEY decide to tell you.

“As he cruises in his patrol car at night around empty streets, his radio is interrupted by threats and obscenities. ”Pinche culero" (f---ing coward) ... the voice taunts over the police frequency.”

This is the latest little twist they’re using to make the cops crazy. It’s not like they come out in the open so you can get at them. They hide in the dark, jump out from between parked cars and open fire on you and your patrol car. Send text-messages on your cell phone making threats. Call you at home and make threats. Call your WIFE at home and make threats. It’s a war of nerves and tension.

This IS NOT something “over there in Mexico”. It’s in the US right now. Every city and town should begin now while there’s still time to get into its poorer neighborhoods, talk to the Latinos, find these people. It won’t be easy because many Mexicans believe these Zetas are nothing less than Gods come to earth. But they need to be identified, targeted and—hopefully—taken out. Once they have a hold, THEY will be in charge.

Here are a couple of Youtube sites about the Zetas:

This really tells you something.

This gives you some hard truths.

I thought it was interesting the republican gov. from New Mexico or Arizona said "only about 10,000 people die from drugs each year" or something close to that. "ONLY 10,000" that is more than enough.
