Cool Bride Held in Cage by New Husband

This story is a little old but it was sent to me by a friend. It's another one of those weird cases that you hear in the news.

CANTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- It’s a wild story out of Ohio where a bizarre honeymoon homecoming for one bride has now ended with her new husband under arrest.

Police say they were called to Mary Swihart's home in Canton, Ohio after her father reported shots had been fired inside the house.

Police say when they arrived, they found a dog cage with handcuffs attached in the dining room and more than 16 shell casings along with the gun they came from.

The couple's 15 month old baby was also in the house, but was not harmed. The woman told police she had been either handcuffed inside or outside the cage for hours since she and her husband returned home from their wedding and honeymoon in Las Vegas last week.

"She was handcuffed inside the cage for two to four hours at a time. He would release her and re-handcuff her on the outside of the cage and let the two dogs they have inside the cage," Canton Police Lieutenant Jim Cole said.

The husband, Matthew George, has been charged with abduction, felonious assault, domestic violence and child endangerment.

This happen right after the honeymoon. I wonder what kind of problems they were having before getting marriage. We are so dysfunctional these day that people really don't recognize a bad relationship.

I could understand it if he suddenly freaked out and started this stuff but it still seems a little odd that she didn't see SOMEthing coming! I can't quite believe that he was just a nice, normal person until he snapped.

I don't own a dog so I'm not too familiar with dog cages. I didn't realize that they make dog cages big enough for humans. These stories keep getting crazier by the minute.

Do you know how big a Great Dane is, BobbyGunns? It's about 40" at the shoulder and 150 to 200 lbs. If the dog stands up on its hind legs it will be over 7' tall!! A cage big enough for this guy will be pretty OK for a person, too. (Not that I would really like to find out how roomy it would be!!)

Yeah, I'm with you about a guy suddenly snapping. Many women will say that there wasn't any signs. I guess they didn't catch on when the guy tried to isolate them from family and friends.

I think, sometimes, a woman can be so much in love that she wouldn't see a Freightliner coming her way!!
