Impersonating an Officer

news-press[ dot ]com/article/20090617/CRIME/90617007

"A 37-year-old man is facing charges of impersonating a police officer after deputies say he followed a 23-year-old motorist, while flashing a badge and yelling at her while she was driving in East Naples late Monday night."

I'm from Florida, and I think our state laws are not tough enough on these types of crimes. Impersonating an Officer should be much higher than a 3rd degree felony.

Officer impersonation getting out of hand down here.

Interesting story over here in Sarasota, FL. A local businessman named James Fink allegedly attempted to get this software programmer fired from his job by impersonating a detective at the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. He called himself "John Dodge" and apparently told this guy's employer that he was "stealing data from a previous employer".

This is why people don't stop for cops, they don't know...maybe the govn't should punish them harder and we won't have to deal with that!

Yeah, this is a serious offense and needs to be dealt with accordingly. I've ran into a couple of these cases in my days.
