Police use Taser on nude man walking a dog - Law Enforcement Local and International Law Enforcement Community

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A 40-year-old man walking his dog in the nude was Tasered by police when he refused to follow an officer's commands.

David McCranie of the Tallahassee Police Department said an officer on patrol spotted the man shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.
The man was asked what he was doing and told the officer, "Allah told me to watch a Bruce Willis movie and walk the dog," McCranie said.

McCranie said using the Taser was the only way to subdue the man without having to hurt him. The man was then sent for mental-health evaluation and treatment.

Wow,i have never seen this Coincidence like that.The Man was crazy,if i were that officer I would not stun him,just take him to department.

Have you guys seen the Taser recommendation NOT to taser the front of the torso? Taser say it CAN induce heart attacks. Puts a bit of a barrier in the way of taser use.

Back on topic why the need for a taser? We can only deploy them if the subject has some sort of weapon. (not the type a naked man would have either

I know if I was in a tussle with some one I'm not going to worry a whole heck of a lot about where to place my taser shot. The suspect was clearly mentally disturbed, and in my experience mentally disturbed individuals are nothing to be messed with and can put up a heck of a fight. That kind of sucks that your department will only let you deploy the taser if you see a weapon. In the prison we we're told to only go to our OC if we felt our life or someone else's life was in danger. Maybe the officer felt his/her life was in danger. We don't know how far gone this guy was or how big he is therefor we can't determine the proper amount of force that should be used.
