Madison PD just hired 36 (just graduated Sat. or Sun.). They are approved for 40 for this next year so they only have 4 openings right now from what I understand. Also, with MPD you have to go through there "academy" no matter what. I say "academy" because it is not a rigorous academy it is more of a community college atmosphere. Also, MPD doesn't really hire a lot of people without a Bachelor's degree, unless you have 5+ years as an officer, then you have a REALLY good shot.
Madison is a very LIBERAL city! The PD is conservative but on some positions they are VERY LIBERAL, like speeding, they don't do a lot of traffic, but that is also do to them always being on the go.
Would you like to know what the academy is like? OK
Their academy is split up into sections. Your section will be in the class room for the first couple of weeks, and the other section will be out on the street getting in their FTO training. Then you will switch, you will be on the road and they will be in. They do this so by the time you are done with the academy you are fully trained and ready to go out on the street right away.
I was thinking about applying to Madison once I am done with my BA in Criminal Justice! Thats right G, I decided to go for it, only bad thing is I still have to do a Internship, even though I already work as a Officer!!!!!! What kinda crap is that!!!!!
