Hi ppl!!

I'm from Portugal, in Europe. I've 22 years old and i m a student of dentistry. I know that you are all thinking: why the hell come a dentist to a law enforcement forum?? Well the answer is quite simple... I really hate to be a dentist, i want to be a law enforcemente agent!!!

I was thinking in a police oficer carreer first but my real objective was am FBI agent!I have some ideias, but can you give me a help about this matters? Because i'm not an american citizen and as far as i know that is needed to either jobs right? what can i do?

First thing first, you need a visa. after that offer your services as an interpreter for the FBI. Fed agencies LOVE interpreters. And you do seem to have a good grasp on the english language.

Thanks for the answers. I was thinking first of all, to apply to a police department and became a police officer. And only after that apply to the fbi. I went to the fbi's web page and they request some things that i don't have like US nationality and a US degree. I've got a degree here in europe but in the cience area and not in US legal areas, so probably i need to make some years in a US university to apply. That's why i was thinking to become a Police officer, study, and only then apply.

What do you think?It's a big dream isn't it? Is it dificult for a persen like me to get the american VISA to live and work in the US. I do not have any criminal register, and i'm a person with studys. What do you think??

Like I said, feds do like interpreters. It is a foot in the door. But starting as a cop is good too.

Out of curiosity, why don't you do Law enforcement there in Portugal?

You could try going to the American ambassador in Lisbon and maybe he or someone in the office could give you some Info. and advice in the matter. I hope you'll eventually get into US law enforcement and get stationed here in Atlanta GA...Welcome to the forum and good luck in your endeavors.

Yeah, welcome! I hope you get into law enforcement, if that's what you really want to do. I think everyone should do what they enjoy, makes life so much more fun!

Well, Welcome aboard and have all the fun you can. As for an FBI Agent thats cool. Have you looked into other Federal Agencies who look for people who are fluent in foreign languages (CIA)?
