I have a bit of a dilemma (backround check)

I'm currently going through the background check of a police department in New York.

2 years ago I moved form New York to P.A. so I could attend Clarion University of Pennsylvania. I spent a month and a half in P.A. and had to leave school due to personal issues. During my time in P.A. I changed my New York state license to a P.A. license.

I kept the P.A. license and car insurance up until January, then I bought a new car. I registered the car in New York and got New York car insurance the only problem is I didn't change my License back to N.Y. This summer I went to the DMV and change my license back to N.Y.

Here lies the problem. The background check packet asks if I have had any license besides a New York state license. The answer is yes of course. My New York state license shows that it was created this summer. Is the investigator going to disqualify me after I come clean and tell her I'm an idiot? Or is she just going to ignore the drivers license information? Is there any way to get around this problem?

Call her up and ask! The reason they do that (i believe) is so that they can check your records in that state (driving records). I would have to tell you, call her up, everywhere is different, but the reason they ask that is too check if you had any citations/traffic violations while in the other state.

I guess I dont understand. Did u forget to put the correct information on the App. packet? If so then just call them up and explain they may be understanding. Good luck

Kinda confusing, but hopefully I understand what you're asking: I'm pretty sure she's not going to ignore the license information during the background process. Hopefully, you simply forgot to include this information in your packet, and didn't intentionally leave it out. If you forgot, you should probably just call and tell her. Don't assume she won't find it. Part of the background process and evaluation of an applicant is going to be accountability...better for you to bring it to her attention than her find it and think you were holding back information.

Honesty is the best policy. Be up-front with the person investigating your background, and try to do it as soon as possible.

Good luck!
