Two State Troopers Shot During Drug Raid
Two State Troopers Shot During Drug Raid
WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- Gunfire broke out Thursday morning as officers tried to serve a search warrant at a home in rural Williamson County. That house is on Falcon Road, southeast of Carbondale. State troopers and officers from the Southern Illinois Enforcement Group were carrying out the raid. That's when they say the man living there started shooting. Police were at the house of 61 year old William Patrich. Investigators say when Patrich opened fire he wounded two Illinois State Troopers. Their names have not been released, but we do know one of them was shot in the head. The other in the arm.
Patrich was killed during the shootout, which police say only lasted a few seconds. Illinois State Police troopers say they didn't have a choice when they started taking fire from Patrich, and they had to respond.
