Appreciation for the RCMP

I had occasion last Friday to call the Mounties on behalf of my daughter's 15 yr old friend. She (the friend) called here in a panic and said "You have to call 9-1-1; my father's going crazy!" He was high on crack, breaking furniture, and had threatened her for the first time ever, and was pushing around the other people there. It was a very scary situation and there was no way for her to get out of the house because he was between her and the door.

When the Mounties arrived, my daughter and I went over to collect her friend, and I had some conversation with one of the constables and then brought the friend here where another constable came to get her statement. They've been trying to find her dad ever since (he took off into the woods just as they arrived) but they took his rifles out of the house. She called me a little while ago to say he had called her on her cell phone and she gave me the number of his cell and asked me to relay to the detachment, which I did a few minutes ago and spoke to the same constable I had talked to on Friday. He was glad to get the information and we're hoping he'll be able to bring the father in. In the meantime, the friend will be coming here. I know her dad knows where I live and all, but my dog will warn me if anyone comes to the house and there are five doors to get out through.

In any case, without the Mounties being there, I wouldn't have been able to get her out of there. She warned me that her dad would hurt me if I tried going over. So a big THANK YOU to the men and women who do this work for little appreciation.

Well put, I think the Mounties did a great job and they need to be appreciated more often!

Yes, great job to those members! And I must say good job to you, for knowing what to do. Things can go deadly in those cases, when people take the matters into their own hands, instead of calling the police.

God bless those that serve their communities. Like a poster I once saw said, police give more than tickets.

They really do. I don't know if they've caught him yet, and he seems to be getting more and more unstable. Gosh, what a surprise that long-term drug and alcohol abuse will cause a personality to change that much (please read the irony/sarcasm in that sentence).

One of my brothers, who is about 14 years older than me, used to be on the auxiliary force over in New Brunswick, and I learned some common sense stuff from him.
