Favorite handgun
I was wondering what the general consensus on types of handguns people prefer to carry. While there are many out there I have this feeling that only a select few are really used.
My favorite is the GLOCK. (I know it sounds generic but let me go on.) It is the most reliable HG I have ever carried. I have not had a malfunction of anykind (nor this Kaboom I always here about). It is also light weight and has great mag capacity. I carry Glock both on and off duty.
I like other HG's too but this one is my favorite.

For one gig, I'm issued a H&K. While I personally don't care for the gun, I've never had a problem with it. It just doesn't fit my hands. In a few years, we are switching to Sigs, so I can't complain.
For the other gig, I carry my Kimber Warrior. I flat out LOVE that gun. I did have to have some light smithing done to make it function 100%, but I feel it was worth it. It fits my hands perfect and I just love having the .45acp round.
I've been thinking about picking up the Glock 21SF, but everytime I save some money for that, I end up buying something else.

I carry and love my Glock. That said I definitely wouldn't mind owning an HK USP 45 or Colt Combat Commander 1911.

Just some thoughts from a DoD perspective, I was (the project was politically cancelled) involved in the testing of the JCP (Joint Combat Pistol) that the US Army and SOCOM were testing for. The first round of tests included a variety of extreme conditions that i will let you conjure up in your mind and you will probably be pretty close to those tests. Several 1911 frame styles were submitted including STI and Colt, Glock and Springfield XD also were included. The 1911 framed pistols came back in bags! the Glock mechanically failed and malfunctioned in several areas, the winner was the XD ! the project never proceded beyond the first round.
as for my selections for you to look at, the STI double stacked .40cal, the HK45, and the new Sig220 tactical. All proven, and battle tested.
hope this helps, or adds fuel to a fire

I have never had a Glock malfunction. I would be curious to see the results and conditions.

i must clarify that i 'work" with combat handguns not 'duty" handguns, and there is a big difference, the Glock is a good handgun, but it is never put under any extreme stress in law enforcement agencies. even if you got into a "shoot out" and dump all your mags in a matter of minutes, I do that repeatedly in a single day at the range., using up near a thousand rounds.
now as for conditions to the above stated testing, tens of thousands of rounds, extreme heat and cold, buried, sea spray, drop tests etc etc, think of the worst things you can do to a pistol then try and fire it.

A private citizen has actually done this. He put it through stuff you would not believe, including soaking in salt water over night in the cold, and burying it into dirt and micro beads. He even threw it out if an airplane and it still functioned everytime. He even shot it with a .22.
Do you know where I can get these results along with the conditions?
