The writer is right:the insurgency can not be won through the use of bullets alone.The economic benefits of good governance should be made available to all Iraqis.This can be achieved through free financial literacy training in local languages and the formation of cooperatives with access to revolving grants and loan guarantees.The political benefits that should be exploited include the Status of Forces Agreement which makes US troops dhimmies (protected allies of an Islamic state).Killing dhimmies is forbidden by Islam.

Also,we must remove sectarianism from Iraqi politics.This will reduce conflicts over scarce resources compounded by religious differences which are stirred up by unscrupulous politicians.Sectarianism is a satanic effort to destroy Islam!This should be used with reverse psychology(through the mass media,religious leaders and educational institutions) to destroy terrorist recruitment and indoctrination.This must be backed by the removal of Islamophobic ascriptions of terrorism to Islam,found in the modern usage of terms such as "Jihadists","Mujahidin","Islamic extremists"
